Canyon Heights Church was planted on the corner of Capilano Road and Montroyal Boulevard in 1950 as a Sunday School. As it grew over the years a new building was built and later renovated to the current state. The church was originally named Canyon Heights Chapel, and in the mid-80s the name was changed to Canyon Heights Christian Assembly.
